Community Preservation and Development Authority (CPDA)
The Community Preservation and Development Authority (CPDA) initiative is dedicated to restoring and enhancing the health, safety, and economic well-being of communities that have been adversely impacted by the construction or ongoing operation of multiple major public facilities, public works, capital projects, or land use decisions involving significant public funding.
The CPDA aims to achieve this by focusing on the following key objectives:
- Community Revitalization: Revitalize, enhance, and preserve the unique character of impacted communities, fostering a renewed sense of identity and belonging.
- Adverse Impact Mitigation: Address the negative effects of large-scale public facilities, public works, and capital projects by implementing strategies to mitigate the displacement of community members and businesses, while restoring the community's integrity.
- Restoring Community Connection: Rebuild and strengthen the local area's sense of community by creating spaces and opportunities for connection and collective action.
- Economic Vitality: Stimulate and support the local economy through initiatives that foster entrepreneurship, business development, and job creation, thereby enhancing the economic well-being of residents.
- Public Service Enhancement: Improve the provision of essential public services to ensure that community members have access to high-quality support systems that improve their overall quality of life.
- Improving Living Standards: Enhance the standard of living within the community by addressing systemic barriers to economic mobility and providing resources for sustainable growth.
- Historic Preservation: Preserve and restore historic buildings or areas, returning them to productive economic use while maintaining their historic integrity and cultural significance.
